Experts warn that the start of school will expose a significant challenge for our community: The impact the pandemic has had on our children’s mental and physical health. Domestic violence, child abuse, substance abuse, and self-harm (including suicide ideation and attempts) are “spiking” ... right here in Santa Barbara. On August 24, SBPLAN will be hosting a panel to discuss this looming crisis in our community as well as offer resources and tips to help our K-12 youth cope with feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression.
PANELISTS INCLUDE:
Suzanne Grimmesey, MFT, PIO/Chief Quality Care, and Strategy Officer, County of Santa Barbara Department of Behavioral Wellness
Frann Wageneck, Ed. D., Assistant Superintendent, Student Services, Santa Barbara Unified School District
Alana Walczak, President & CEO, CALM (Child Abuse Listening Mediation)
Ashley Labistour, M.A., LMFT, School Services Supervisor, Family Service Agency
